New Newsletter Strengthens LEAs Partnership

South Lanarkshire has a new business newspaper and it's available to local companies free of charge!

South Lanarkshire Enterprise News is product of four local enterprise agencies (LEAs) - Cambuslang Project, Clydesdale Enterprise Development Company, East Kilbride Business Centre and Hamilton Enterprise Development Company.

Known collectively as South Lanarkshire Enterprise Development Group, the four LEAs have been working together in partnership to promote economic development in South Lanarkshire since local government reorganisation. The new newsletter is a way of extending that partnership and reaching more potential clients.

The newsletter is distributed throughout South Lanarkshire - the next one is due out in September - and is packed full of features, information and useful contact numbers.

South Lanarkshire Enterprise Development Group meets regularly to discuss good business practice, common problems and new ideas. This group is supported by partners South Lanarkshire Council and Lanarkshire Development Agency, both of which have representatives at the group's meetings and provide funding to the LECs.

Linda McDowall

Linda McDowall, chief executive of East Kilbride Business Centre, said: "Historically, all the enterprise agencies had their own magazines which they sent out to companies in their operational areas. We had all been working in partnership for a number of years, so it was sensible not only to pool the funding for the magazine to create one publication, but to create demonstrate to our client companies that we were working together in South Lanarkshire for their common good."

Chris Parkin, general manager of Clydesdale Development Company, said: "This new business newsletter is an ideal tool for providing information to local businesses and raising awareness of new projects and schemes of assistance on offer to them."

Margaret Donaldson

Margaret Donaldson, manager of the Cambuslang Project, said: "By working in partnership in such a way, we are giving local companies the best possible service - they have professional advice on hand locally as well as the full range of Lanarkshire-wide business support programmes."

Ronnie Smith, managing director of Hamilton Enterprise Development Company, said: "The development of closer links between the four enterprise companies is good for our clients and our public sector funding partners. By working in partnership, we can keep administration costs down and channel our funds to where they are most needed. Consequently, the South Lanarkshire Enterprise News will be followed by further joint marketing and publishing activities to reflect this approach."
