Councillor Eddie McAvoy, leader of South Lanarkshire Council, said: “Hamilton Racecourse has been a much loved landmark in the town for a great many years. The course is very important to Hamilton’s economy and South Lanarkshire Council was delighted to play its part in ensuring it continues to thrive. The newly refurbished stand provides racegoers with excellent facilities which will give them an even better horseracing experience.”

Racecourse chairman, Ian Good, said: “I am delighted to see the project completed. Our main aim was to provide better facilities for the public and that has been achieved. We now have an excellent facility here. It is an exciting time for both Hamilton Park and Scottish racing.”
