Business profile
South Lanarkshire Council has given a Larkhall business £30,000 worth of grant support - the maximum amount of support the Council is able to give for this type of project - towards their new multi-million pound development.

Norfolkline, part of A.P.Mouler group, are currently investing £4 million in a new chilled and frozen warehouse at Strutherhill Industrial Estate. The additional money, which came through the South Lanarkshire Economic Developments business support programme, will be used towards physical development of their premises and site servicing costs.
Early on in the projects development, the company also received assistance from the Councils Planning and Estates Services. The Council owns the land and the Estates team played a major role in securing and delivering the project.
Council leader, Eddie McAvoy, who presented the cheque to the company, said: South Lanarkshire Council first came into contact with Norfolkline around 18 months ago when they approached our Property Advice Service. The Service, which is part of our Economic Development team, then helped the company find a suitable site for development at Strutherhill Industrial Estate.
Since then, Norfolkline have invested £4 million in the creation of their new facility, bringing 40 jobs to the area. This is a significant investment in Larkhall and we are delighted to welcome the company to South Lanarkshire.
Derek Sloan, Norfolklines Managing Director, said: This grant was very much appreciated. We have been involved in developments in various countries and in other parts of the UK, but the cooperation we got from the Council was first class. The Council was very flexible and easy to deal with. I look forward to Norfolkline continuing to expand in this area.
Norfolkline also opened a facility at the Boulogne Fish Market in France - a total of nine loading bays - to cope with increasing customer demand. They also have a depot in Hythe near the Channel Tunnel.
Derek added: Norfolkline believe that in today's market you must be in total control of your cost. We believe that our investments in the fish logistic industry have put us in a unique position to meet all our customers requirements for the future.
