Hamilton Town Centre Development Offers Superb New Facilites for Business

Hamilton has been a centre for business for centuries. Origianlly a market town, Hamilton's real wealth grew in the 19th century from mining of the rich coal seams under its lands.

The area's coal mining industry is dead now, but the town still thrives and business is still booming.

Thanks to the Hamilton Ahead Initiative, the town is seeing a renaissance in the types of opportunites available to businesses.

The Initiative has already brought a number of major retailers to Hamilton and its latest coup has seen the building a superb new state-of-the-art office and retail development to the town square.

Part of the Hamilton Ahead Initiative, the £4.5 million development provides 26,867 sq ft of office accommodation, 4,500 sq ft of retail space (five units), including Hamiltonks second Shopmobility office, and parking (33, including 16 disabled). It is situated on Hamilton Town Square adjacent to Asda's Scottish headquarters and has been designed to complement both.

Councillor Eddie McAvoy, leader of South Lanarkshire Council, said: "The Council is keen to encourage the expansion of office developments within Hamilton to further enhance the town's reputation as a quality business location. The Hamilton Ahead Initiative had always zoned that site for a business development and we are delighted with the new facility currently being built there."

"Princes Gate offers businesses modern office and retail space in the heart of Hamilton. Its position means that it is easily reached from the motorway and businesses who decide to move into the development have the added bonus of facing on to our beautiful town square. It's the perfect business location."

Alistair Kettles, Group Commercial Director of the Watson Construction Group, said: "We are offering extremely high spec office and retail space which rivals anything the city centre can offer. This is a prime location at out-of-town prices."

"Many companies are now looking for high quality, cost effective retail and office space without city centre rents. Princes Gate fulfils that requirement and also provides excellent telecommunications and public transport networks."

James Rowney, Senior Manager Asset Management Services at the Royal Bank of Scotland, said: "Princes Gate offers a unique working environment and the Royal Bank of Scotland is delighted to be involved in the project which will undoubtedly encourage business growth and development in Hamilton."

Princes Gate is expected to be formally launched in Novemer 2000. Businesses interested in the development should contact: DTZ Debenham Tie Leung on 0141 226 5241.
