NEB Students Come Out Tops in Management Course

Eleven South Lanarkshire men and women have come up trumps after passing a National Examining Board for Supervision and Management (NEBSM) course.

The eleven, who work for six Lanarkshire companies, passed the Introductory Award at Diploma Level (Intermediate) which will allow them to go on and do the NEBS Management Diploma.

The programme consisted of 60 hours of study built around a Personal Development Plan and Generic Management Studies including managing information, people, operations and resources.

The participants, who all have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in management attended day and evening workshops. They were also given tutorials, carried out a company based project and gave a presentation to their employers and the NEBSM External External Assessor.

Each company bar one received funding for the course through the Management Technology Training Grant and the programme ran over six months.

The successful trainees are:

Dorothy MacCloy from East Kilbride Small Business Gateway which ran the course, said: "We are delighted all our trainees successfully completed the programme in such a short space of time. I d like to congratulate them all on their achievements. "

This course aims to improve the management performance of teh participants to hte benefit of both the individual and their employer. It also allows the people who took part to go on and do the diploma."

Michael Reekie, a Service Supervisor with Thermocool, said: hThis was an excellent course and I really enjoyed every part it. Itos given me a good grounding for going on to do the degree, but thatps something for the future.

So what do you have to do to take part in the NEBS Management Introductory Award at Diploma Level?

Well, participants should have:

Graduates of a British university who are starting in a management role are also eligible to apply for the programme. The course is also open to those people who have no formal qualifications, but had undertaken some management study and have a minimum of two years' relevant experience in management.
