Gary Lambie from South Lanarkshire Childcare Partnership said: "There are many benefits to being 'family friendly'. Efforts to support employees' work-family priorities are neither 'perks' nor 'giveaways', but simply good business. Studies have shown that the more flexible employers have better motivated and happier staff which, in turn, increases productivity and reduces employee stress and absenteeism."

"This new certificate is our way of recognising those employers who have introduced family friendly policies in the workplace"

Set up in 1998 to promote the Government's National Childcare Strategy, the SLCP is a partnership between South Lanarkshire Council, Lanarkshire Health Board, Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire, the voluntary sector, families, employers and childcare professionals.

Its aim is to increase the level, choice and quality of childcare needs with local businesses and provide accessible, up-to-date information on childcare and pre-school provision.
